	Responsibilities 

	POSITION SUMMARY: 
Provide technical expertise in the context of quality customer service
skills to users of Information Technology infrastructure.
Configure/install, administer and troubleshoot several High Performance
Computing (HPC) clusters, including support systems.  Support customers
of distributed systems in standalone mode, blade environment, and
clustered configurations.  Programming skills may include UNIX and
Windows based partitioned large processors, as well as server-based
software with a varying scope of understanding with respect to hardware.
Project management efforts of significant scope and breadth would be
coordinated and managed through use of project management tools
including simple timelines, task assignment, team meetings, resource
planning, task tracking and basic agendas.  Support applications
interfaces, protocols, security requirements, as well as critical IT
services, such as enterprise electronic mail and/or student e-mail,
storage area networking (SAN), Identity Management, capacity and
performance.  The incumbent should also have exposure and some practical
experience in internal and self-regulating processes.  Serve as liaison
to vendor technical support personnel for problem resolution and
efficiency improvement. The following skills are preferred: utilization
of HPC clusters to solve scientific problems; writing scientific
software applications on HPC clusters using C, C++, Fortran, or Java;
and ability to develop and teach HPC user training courses. 


QUALIFICATIONS: 
Requires Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer
Science; and 4-5 years of related experience; preferably 2-3 years in a
supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.  Master's preferred. 
Requires technical ability, systems level awareness, knowledge of
quality improvement processes, and superior customer service skills;
strong, demonstrated verbal and written communications skills;
flexibility to manage projects and task lists developed by others or by
the individual.
