As far as your X and Nvidia, even though you do the rpm's for Nvidia,
you still need to change "nv" to "nvidia" and comment out "dri" in the
XF86Config file, that should fix your X problems

> Hi guys. I have Slackware 8.1 installed, but the default kernel doesn't support SBLive cards so I had to rebuild the kernel. I downloaded the 2.4.20 kernel. I did a rebuild following Leo Laporte's guide :) http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/linux/story/0,24330,2433297,00.html So I rebuilt the kernel and included SBLive support compiled right in not as a module (cuz I'm not sure how to load modules yet). I also compiled in support for my NIC, a 3Com 3c905. When i booted to the kernel Xwindows wouldn't start so I rebuilt the Nvidia drivers and reinsatlled the RPM's but still no go. Also on boot it says it didn't start my NIC, or didn't find my NIC. Can anyone help? My NIC worked before I upgraded. Any have any suggestions?
