HP-CDE is HP's version of the popular CDE XWindow Manager:

Most UNIX's offer GUI programs to help accomodate most common
configurations.  It's when you have to get into the nitty gritty that
things become severely unfriendly.

Then again, older versions of Solaris were always unfriendly :)
