Debian and cdrecord under >2.6.8

I've been using growisofs to make dvd's and either cdrdao with 2.6 or
cdrecord with ide-scsi on a 2.4 (I keep the 2.4 around specifically for
burning). I haven't had any luck with cdrecord* since 2.6. scsi emulation
or not.
