Debian and cdrecord under >2.6.8(follow up to vlok and cyber as well)

I will give it a try after I upgrade the firmware.  I can't get cdrecord or
cdrdaio to record anything with ATAPI, or ATA.  I have NOT put on a 2.4 kernel
and gone back to SCSI-emul. That would force me to change many other things, so
I want to try firmware, upgraded kernel (I have 2.6.11) and different media.
