IDE-SCSI depricated in 2.6.x kernels?

Hi, all!
Here's a little item that's been bugging me in the SCSI options of the 
2.6.x kernel config:
I can't quote exactly, but it states that IDE-SCSI is deprecated for 
cd-burning, but cd-record, and the other tools I've looked at don't 
support "direct ide" burning. Anybody have any experience with this? For 
now, I just compile in ide-scsi and ignore it.
