CPU/MB problem? Which one?

I would try taking out the battery AND unplug the power supply from the 
motherboard.  If there is a CPU reset jumper, try it at different 
settings, there are usually 2.  Taking out the battery does the same 
thing as CPU reset, but not if there is some power coming out of the 
power supply.
