linux to win printer sharing

I am running Rehat 9.0 on a network that has my sons win xp setup wireless off a Linksys brige and sharing his hp psc 2110 printer on the winblows side. My pc is on a router/switch. When he shuts down his computer and reboots Ive noticed that I always have to reload my printer drivers on my Linux pc to print to his pc. When I do reconnect to his printer its works great. Why does this happen? Is there a setting in windows xp or samba? I leave my Linux pc on all the time. Ive noticed too in winblows xp that if you have mapped drives from xp to samba they never reconnect fully. You always have to log in again to reconnect to samba. Must be the bill gate demons!!!   Any suggestions!! Thanks!
