Actually, if that's all you want to do, then you really don't need sendmail. 
Just use the sendmail server.  All sendmail does is provide SMTP send and
receive capabilities but it's starting to sound redundant, considering that you
already have a mailer that you want to use.  Set up your Email client to use
the server that you want to use as as a smarthost.  Don't even mess with trying
to put an MTA (mail tranfer agent) on your box.
