Little Help?

OOOH

When all seems lost start at the beginning.....

The timing of the mouse stopping was too perfectly aligned with the sound card
working so the natural assumption is that the two must have something to do
with one another.

After all the careful testing and advice I realized that if the mouse was
sending input at all, I should get a response at least at init 3 with gpm.

I went back and checked all cables and realized that the only other thing that
changed while getting the sound to work was moving the speaker cable from my
windows box to my linux box and back again, and in so doing loosening the mouse
cable from the KVM switch !!!!!!

Well even looking at the wrong thing is educaitonal, I feel (besides silly) a
lot more knowledgeable about lspci, lsmod, rmmod, insmod, and /proc and the
soundcard setup. All good things. I just wish I hadnt wasted a day trying to
figure out why my blasted mouse wouldn't work !

Thanks to all who offered advice...
