Little Help?

I know this might be obtuse, but re-check these two:

1) the mouse port is correctly plugged in, and in the correct port

2) On certain systems, users have the option to disable the mouse port, or
reserve port 12 to a PCI slot.

I know you probably didn't do either, but it feels like we hitting a
complex level of debugging, which makes me thing something more simple is
a foot.
