Mozilla Crashing when I go to Java sites

at a command prompt type "which java" and "java --version" in 2 seperate
instances.
  The first will tell you if you have java in your path and the second
will tell you if you are using the java vm or not and which version if
any. of course, it would need to be in the path to get a result from the
second command anyway. 
  That should begin the troubleshooting part of it
