cdrecord and ide-scsi question

I just noticed that I had my normal cdrom set so on boot lilo runs the 
command for ide-scsi on it to make it so i can record cds. However it 
should have been hdd not hdc that the line should have pointed to.  Is 
there a way to enable hdd to be used for cdrecording without rebooting? 
I really dont want to reboot so if there is a way please enlighten me.
