Muti-Desktop Icons-Bob?

In Gnome, at least the version that comes with RedHat 9, only the
respective items per workspace show in the panel (taskbar), i.e. Desktop
1 with Mozilla open, go to Desktop 2 with nothing open, nothing in the
panel either. It would be better to show you at a meeting, rather than
taking screen shots.
