Has there been past talks of a small membership fee? Even if the
fee isn't used for room rentals, it could be used for other neat stuff like
t-shirts, some kind of contests, bringing in a speaker, hardware, etc. I
think a small membership fee is a worthwhile investment.

If it's not
waking old ghosts, could we table this for the next meeting?

Robert

Well here's where we get into a legal problem.
First off in order to collect dues from people you need to legally be a
non-for-profit
tax exempt
organization. If anyone disagrees with me ok, but I've been involved in the
past with such groups. Thats how its done! We are not really in that status. Well you can't really table anything
because theres no committee formally established per say.

You can although bring up issues here (the list) and
at monthly meeting since we are an informal group. We are a free organization
with a simple method of managing our meetings/group. We began with the
notion of less is (more) better method. Less meaning no political governing
body. ie: Officers & Board of Directors. As this tends to take the fun out
of it all. So as soon as you start collecting money you have to prove how
your spending it and where! So knowing
how this topic was brought up in the past and how we have adopted a
method of operatetion since, I think if its not broke don't fix
it.
