Newbie help again!! ^_^

Okay, we got a new network card for my computer.  It's all fin and dandy and great (hurrah!).  Anyway, I tried to install Slackware 8.1 (WHEE!) and it worked great until I started to select the stuff I wanted.  I had a kernel panic.¬_¬  Any ideas what might've caused it, 'cause dad (Greg) and I are stumped. -_-
