If you have a few hours to burn read the CDRECORD how to.  All the Window front
ends use this app as the engine to run.  It's a lot of reading but well worth
it.  Then when something doesn't work in the app it's easy to drop to a cmd
line and type out a cmd to see what happened....
 For finding the SCSI device cdrecord thinks you have try "cdrecord --scanbus" 
Check the man page to doublecheck.   What kind of burner, IDE, (must emulate
SCSI), SCSI, or USB?
