You can also just: "ess /var/log/[filename]"instead of piping through 
cat.
"ls /var/log" gives you all kinds of stuff to look at, plus good 'ol 
"dmeg | less"  ;-)

BTW, our ad agency sent us a CD-R of our most recent ads in 
(surprise?) Mac hfs format.  None of the Windoze machines here can 
see anything at all.  ("But we included .pdf files!") So I mount the 
CD on the Linux server and copy the files to the Samba shared drive 
and there they are!  I don't even need to specifiy "hfs" w/ mount, 
just mount /dev/hdb /cdrom!  Is that great or what??? :-D
Hey, it's just a "stupid mount trick", but it impresses the Windoze 
sheep! ;-)
