guy with samba problem

Try going to Start->run and typing '//linuxmachine/sharename' and see if the 
browser will pick it up.  You should get a login and password prompt for
the share so that you can connect.  I've seen a lot of bizarre behavior
with random versions of Windows being able to browse shares in a Linux
network.
