Hello NFLUG members,

My name is Abdur-Rahman Morgan. I am new to the list. I was interested
in knowing if there was going to be a meeting on Saturday, June, 16th
since the web site list that the meetings are held every third Saturday
of the month. I e-mailed webmaster at nflug.org earlier and Darin Perusich,
responded back stating that there had been no discussion.

Some Background
- ---------------
I have been using GNU/Linux for about seven years now. I am not heavy on
programming, but consider myself knowledgeable about the system
internals and software packages. This year, I really wanted to start
advocating its use in the community by individuals and small
organizations that need to develop an internal IT infrastructure. Since,
I have been using GNU/Linux, I firmly believe that it has the ability to
empower individuals to understand the technology they are using and its
implications. I believe in computer user freedom and this year, I would
like to help others understand its importance.

I have been a member of the Free Software Foundation for the past two
years and during that time, I have been trying to understand their
perspective(in comparison to OpenSource Software).It is my hope that
some of you are also members as well.

My Thoughts

I was hoping that some of the groups goals could align with some of the
work the the FSF is doing, specifically its new campaign in advocating
Ogg Vorbis.(http://www.fsf.org/news/playogg.html). I think this campaign
would be a creative means for us to educate music artist/activist,
computer users/activists about its benefits and how they can apply it
practically on and off-line.

Final Thoughts
- --------------
If its impossible to meet up on short notice, possibly we could start
putting and agenda together for next month's meeting. If we can meet,
possibly for those who want to know how to encode using Ogg and have a
discussion about media formats, we could meet up and talk
