Have you tried this:

"A sample main configuration file is generated automatically when you
run the configure script before compiling the binaries. Look for it
either in the distribution directory or the etc/ subdirectory of your
installation. When you install the sample config files using the make
install-config command, a sample main configuration file will be placed
into your settings directory (usually /usr/local/nagios/etc). The
default name of the main configuration file is nagios.cfg."

Hi all! Just downloaded and installed the current version of Nagios
on
my Sun Ultra 5 running Debian 3.0r5 and was wondering if anyone had
any
working config files they could send my way to look at? I am having
one
heck of a time trying to figure out the docs that come with Nagios
(the
reason I am wanting to use Nagios to monitor my home network is
because
we use Nagios to monitor our network where I work -- Adelphia).
