Download Accelerators

Does anyone know of any download accelerator/manager programs for Linux ?
I'm on dial up, and I use Lightning Download on the M$ side of the fence.
It's GUI based and allows multiple connections, so a 2 hour download only
takes 20 min.
It also does suspend, resume, and schedule, and will search for mirrors and
switch if transmission rate falls below a set value.
Does anything similar exist ?
