Mandrake install

Hi,

I have just installed Mandrake 9.1 and there seems to be a problem.
When I log on to Gnome there is a message

"Could not look up internet address for x1-6-00-02-3f-90-93-4d. This
will prevent Gnome from operating correctly. It may be possible to
correct the problem by adding x1-* to file /etc/hosts."

/etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost

I am not sure how to add x1* and am not sure if that is the whole
problem. My command line prompt uses the same numbers sequence in place
of the computer name

"(ron at x1* ron)$"

During the install I distinctly remember setting the name, there was
also a second place to name the computer but it was optional and
wouldn't have been the name used in the command line prompt as it was
"descriptive and allowed the use of spaces. I did leave this one blank

No idea at all where "x1* came from or how to get rid of it.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
