[nflug] instructions for openoffice 3 for EEE PC 900 asus

Hopefully, someone googling help can reach this documentation I 
created... itzzzzz very nice

Instructions for installing OpenOffice 3 with a suite of other helpful 
programs for the asus EEEPC900:

 From a GNU/Linux Desktop... I'm using Debian
1. download the following:
http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/o/openclipart/openclipart-openoffice.org_0.18+dfsg-5_all.deb
http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/o/openclipart/openclipart-svg_0.18+dfsg-5_all.deb
http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/o/openclipart/openclipart-png_0.18+dfsg-5_all.deb
http://download.projectsakura.com/eeepc/emeditor_0.5.6-0.i386.deb
http://ftp.belnet.be/pub/mirror/ftp.openoffice.org/stable/3.0.0/OOo_3.0.0_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz
2. unpack OOo_3.0.0_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz
3. decend into the DEBS folder
4. copy and paste the following in the DEBS folder:
openclipart-openoffice.org_0.18+dfsg-5_all.deb
openclipart-svg_0.18+dfsg-5_all.deb
openclipart-png_0.18+dfsg-5_all.deb
emeditor_0.5.6-0.i386.deb
5. rename "OOo_3.0.0_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb" to "o-f-3" for sanity
6. copy o-f-3 to a flash drive that can hold about 512mb
7. now follow the instructions below... I created them for a student, so 
they are verbos.

Now to installation...
1. Turn Laptop on
2. click the work tab
3. double click the file manager icon
4. goto tools and select console
5. when console opens type: sudo bash
6. minimize the console window for now...
7. plugin the USB flashdrive
8. you'll have three options presented to you to open the flashdrive... 
select file manager
9. when you see the folder called o-f-3 right click on it and select copy
10. now select the My Home folder in left hand window plane
11. goto edit and then select paste, make sure you don't paste in the My 
Documents folder
12. now maximize the console window
13. type: ls :to see what folders are listed
14. if o-f-3 is listed good
15. now type: dpkg -i /home/user/o-f-3/DEBS/*.deb
16. wait for a minute until you are promted to click ok for emeditor
17. wait a bit longer till you see: ICE default...
18. now type the following and hit ENTER after each line (note after you 
typed the first line and hit enter you can use the upward arrow key to 
redisplay the last command and redit it everytime replacing what you 
need to):

ln -s /opt/openoffice.org3/program/swriter /usr/bin/

ln -s /opt/openoffice.org3/program/scalc /usr/bin/

ln -s /opt/openoffice.org3/program/simpress /usr/bin/

ln -s /opt/openoffice.org3/program/sbase /usr/bin/

mv /usr/bin/soffice /usr/bin/old-soffice

ln -s /opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice /usr/bin/

ln -s /opt/openoffice.org3/program/smath /usr/bin/

ln -s /opt/openoffice.org3/program/sdraw /usr/bin/

19. now type: emeditor   ...a window will popup click ok twice
20. in the left window plane click on Work
21. in emeditor you will need to add an icon for OpenOffice 3 and delete 
three icons: Document, Presentation, and Spreadsheet

22. go ahead and delete the three icons: click on Documents
23. then click the red X icon to the right
24. then click ok ...do the same thing for Presentation and Spreadsheet
25. click on PDF now, and then click on the green + sign icon
26. under location & Name tab for Name type: OpenOffice 3 ...exactly how 
I have it here...
27. now click on the icon tab
28. next to Existing icon: click the drop down menu to select an icon
29. scroll down to splashtop_asus and select it
30. now click the command tab
31. for shortcut and command type: /usr/bin/soffice   ...and then click 
ok and exit the program by closing the window

32. when asked you if want to save simplerc click yes
32. now type: exit
33. and type: exit once more
34. now click on the Settings tab
35. click on Personalization
36. under Desktop theme select a different theme ...any of them are 
find... just pick a different one that is shown
37. click ok... and then click ok again for the next window
38. now click on the Work tab
39. you should see an icon listed as OpenOffice 3 go ahead and click on 
it ...we're not done yet!!
40. a welcome screen pops up, click next
41. for first name type HUFSD, click next and then click next again
42. your at registration now... select I do not want to Register, click 
finish
43. now click on Text Document
44. after it opens goto Tools and select Gallery
45. now click New Theme...
46. a window will popup, delete the words New Theme and rename it clipart
47. now select the files tab
48. click find files, a new window pops up
49. in the Path: text box rename the path to /usr/share/openclipart/ and 
then select Select... and wait a minute
50. after thats complete select Add All
51. this will take a long time, start working on another laptop
52. when this it is finshed simply click ok, and turn off the laptop 
...hooray your done with the one laptop
