In a reversal of a landmark trend that first appeared in late 2000, pay
for noncertified IT skills now averages more than pay for IT
certifications, according to Foote Partners ....

"Our benchmark research partners report the search for talent to us as a
'I know it when I see it' kind of
thing," observes Foote, "And in many cases they absolutely know what
they want and are looking really hard
to find it, and apparently it isn't formal skills certification in many
many instances."
