dd-wrt should be completely painless to install...you download the firmware
image and just go to your router's "upgrade" internal web page, and upload
the image..click submit...done. you've now got a linux based router/firewall
(you can even ssh into it!!)

I bought a Linksys WTR54G (I believe that is the model #) wireless routera
while back and the salesperson that sold it to me told me about this.
However, I have, as of yet, been able to install that.
