The difference between Soviet and European gauges was 89 mm: again,
bigger than 8, even in cm. I don't know about today.
"89 mm to Freedom" by Marek Piwowski documents the lifting of cars at
the Polish-Soviet border, unattaching of the European running gear, and
attaching of the Soviet gear. At least the bolt patterns were
consistent. . . we'd think.
