I wouldn't use OpenDS in a production environment, it's no where's ready 
for prime time and has a long way to go until it is. Take a look at Sun 
Directory Server, its a proven product that has been around for along 
time. FedoraDS is an earlier code base of SunDS and are nearly 
identical. For a production system I'd recommend SunDS, it's free unless 
you want to pay for support which isn't very expensive.
