[nflug] clamav or f-prot

Hi, I'm using knoppix to remove viruses from a winXP machine, but am
having trouble updating the virus databases and engines ....I think this
is because I am using ram disk right (Live CD)? using knoppix 5.0  Is
there a way I can update the virus database and engine ...I must be
missing a step.  The system just freezes everytime I try and update, at
first it just slows, then stops.  Any help direction would be most welcomed.
