If you want to see what packages are available using apt, you can do
"apt-cache search XXX". In your case, "apt-cache search freenx" should
show you everything related to freenx. If it comes back with nothing,
you're probably missing the additional repository types tagged onto the
end of the sources list as so (I think it defaults to main only):
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ unstable main non-free contrib

And yes, that line reveals me as a hard-core Debian user :)
