You should have a look at your controller bios settings <ctrl-a> and see 
if you have bad settings in there, while there, you should also see if 
the devices are being detected properly.
  I would imagine if the termination was not right and these being 
optical drives, you might get away with it to boot to a drive, etc. 
Having a look at the controllers bios should clear that up. Do all the 
devices get detected properly at post?
