Some things I've been using:

To Rip:

xDVDShrink <http://dvdshrink.sourceforge.net/>

dd if=/dev/cdrom of=file.iso bs=1024

To burn:

Either right click on an iso in Nautilus and click burn, or use K3b. Make sure you have DMA turned on.
