[nflug] command line/bzflag questions

Hi all,

I'm having difficulty getting bzflag to run properly (it runs, but
PAINFULLY slowly - no control) on a relatively recent install of BLAG
50k (fc5). Assuming that the driver for my video card is at fault, since
bzflag works perfectly under suse 10.1 on the same hardware (different
hard drive), I grabbed the latest driver from the nvidia site (card
looks like this in lspci: 00:0a.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia
Corporation NV18 [GeForce4 MX 4000 AGP 8x] (rev c1) ), but I can't seem
to get to a straght command line to install it. I seem to recall using
"init 3" as root to do that in the past, but here that just sends me to
a black screen with strange gibberish across the top half. There is a
failsafe terminal session option, but that's still using X and won't
install the driver. Doesn't seem to be a CL session option. I have
already done everyting else that the nvidia site says needs to be done
to get the driver working with fc5. Did fc5 also make the command line
trickier to get to? Any suggestions?

Also, I recently added an ubuntu (dapper) system to my network here that
isn't doing much at the moment, so I would like to toy around with
setting up a bzflag server on it. The instructions here:

http://www.bzflag.org/wiki/CreatingAServer

talk about editing bzfs.conf to set things up. All well and good. "-You
will find this file in the directory where you installed BZFlag under a
subdirectory called data," which is true on a microshit box, of course,
but who needs that? Is anyone here familiar with how to get things going
for a bzflag server in Linux? "The file is named bzfs.conf. Open
bzfs.conf in a text editor (in windows, notepad will be just fine; in
GNU/Linux, Unix, Debian, etc.. : vi would work nice"

Would work even better if I could find the damn thing, now that I've
finally forced myself to come to terms with vi. ;-)

Advice is always greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
S.
