I have installed lots of them and I do mean LOTS. HP with hplip is the 
way to go. They have one out now that is like $149 and works perfectly. 
You asked for a Linux friendly multi-function and from my experience, 
you won't be sorry with just about anything HP. Some HP's have their 
caveats and that's when linuxprinting.org comes in handy.
