As horrible as it sounds - so many websites immediately switched to FP 8 that the "workaround" for linux users has been .
wait for it...

Firefox...(windows version)  Under WINE!   Then go to your "*%&^@!" website that doesn't want Linux users at it and accept the auto-install of Flashplayer.

HAHA  Use a windows version of a common linux browser so you can accept plugins that only work under windows!!!! on your linux machine - Oh my head hurts...

I thought the problem was that Flash 8 was very recently released (Win only) and tons of sites immediately used it and Flash 7 is only Official Linux version - I could be totally wrong but I got that on a flash discussion board earlier this week.
