I sometimes use webmin's sync users and groups to accomplish retyping
users on multiple servers, but I have more servers now.  I want just
one
place to type in users and groups without synchronizing all the
servers.

I created an LDAP long ago, but at the time had only one server that
didn't really need to depend on it plus I did it just so I could say I
could do it, so I eventually purged it when I upgraded the server
....what a mistake.
