Dave,
    I have a screen saver setup that I use from the FC2 preferences .  
Would/could X11 override my selected screen saver?  It kinda makes sense 
because when I moved the mouse the screen "flashed" and went to this 
"other" screen, but then I could do nothing but power down via the power 
switch.  When I tried to reboot It locked up somewhere during startup 
(It was not checking the system like it would normally do when you cut 
power) and I could not bring the system back up.  I was able to get to 
grub and I tried booting into win2k and it worked fine.  I since 
re-installed FC2 (I'm using it now) and it's seems to be working fine.
