Fedora has similarly low requirements. 200Mhz Pentium-class CPU, 64M of memory and less than a gig of disk will get you by just fine. 

The BSDs should be able to get by on even less, and in the end it's just another unix-like operating system, just like linux. There's not much difference that can't be learned in the space of a few hours.
