UBLinux 4 is now available for download. UBLinux 4 consists of 4 CD's.
All 4 CD's are required to install the UBLinux operating system. You can
obtain the CD's by one of two options:

    1. Purchasing the CD set at the UBMicro computer store in the UB
       Commons.
       Note: UBMicro has just received the master CD images for
       duplication, but they do not have copies for sale just yet. We
       expect that they will have copies for sale next week.

    2. Download the CD images from our download site and then, using CD
       burning software, transfer the image to the CD media.

       NOTE: The CD images are very large files (approximately 650 MB)
       each. Do not attempt to download these if you have a slow and/or
       unreliable internet connection. We encourage you to purchase the CD's
       from UBMicro instead.

the desktop computing needs of most UB students, faculty, and
staff. Some of the main features of UBLinux include:

- Easy to keep up-to-date through use of the Red Hat Network (RHN).

- Configured with appropriate security settings for UB campus networks

- Documentation and support provides novice users a chance to learn
   how to use GNU Linux.

- Provides a suite of current stable versions of user applications
   that approximates, if not achieves, the same level of access to UBIT
   as an MS-Windows machine with TechTools software.

New features for UBLinux 4 include:

- Based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation 4 (RHEL WS 4), the
   latest Red Hat distribution intended for production machines.

- The first UBLinux based on the 2.6 kernel, offering increased
   hardware support and taking full advantage of the latest linux
   utilities.

- Contains many useful and up-to-date programs that are not included
   in a standard install of RHEL WS 4 including:

   * Real Player 10
   * Adobe Reader 7
   * Macromedia Flash Player 7
   * Grip - CD ripping program
   * GtkPod - Music library and iPod syncing program
   * Sun Java JRE and JDK

     Microsoft Windows media Formats
   * Mulberry email client

   (RHN). Registration and updates will be conducted automatically,
   ensuring system security.

   be used directly from the menu system.
