Anthony, try this to install the software @ root
prompt
1. cd /usr/src
2.  export
CVSROOT=:pserver:anoncvs at cvs.digium.com:/usr/cvsroot
   cvs login <--- This command will prompt for a
3.password, use anoncvs
   cvs checkout asterisk zaptel

that will download  the 2 programs you'll need
4. cd zaptel
5. make linux26 (if using 2.6 kernel also read the
read me for 2.6 udev and follow the instructions),(if
all goes well) make install, then make config (that
will create a file in init.d to start it at boot).
6. modprobe zaptel
7. modprobe wcfxo (this will load the drivers)

8. cd ../asterisk
9. make, then make install, make samples & make
config(see above-does same thing.
10. start asterisk w/ command asterisk -vvvvg & (if no
errors- it may fail.we need to configure the FXO
device- see below)
11. connect to the command line w/ asterisk -r



Next we need to create config fielsx for your FXO card
I'll attatch some config files for a 1 card setup,
just
replace the ones you have w/these in /etc 
note: zaptel.conf is in /etc and zapata.conf goes in
/etc/asterisk

now try to load the card w/ this command
ztcfg -vv
it should say configured 1 channel

restart asterisk ; asterisk -r (at their command
prompt
issue restart asterisk now command.
if all went well. reconnect asterisk -r and issue
zap show channels command. you should see a pseudo and
a real channel. when you have that done, we'll begin
configuring the phones. Also i'll attatch the pdf doc
from digium , which has some good info. also
