Introducing myself

It's not asterisk, it's SIP. The SIP protocol does not work well with
NAT.

I could give you instructions on what to open/setup in order for the SIP
to work through NAT. the other option is to use IAX..which is more work
on my end, but I could probably do it.

If that's the case, I'd need to know exactly what the environment is
like, i.e. is it firewalled or natted? Or both? Are outgoing connections
firewalled or just incoming?

Sorry, can't do much about that.  Why is it that Asterisk won't work
through a
firewall?  Can't the initiator set up a bi-directional connection
without
having to be able to connect back on a return channel?  Most firewalls
block
initiators and just about everyone out there that has any kind of client
machine will be masqueraded behind some kind of firewall.  I find it
hard to
believe that asterisk is written such that it can't work in a standard
environment.
