Unix/Linux Support Student Assistant Position Available

The Advanced Consulting and Technologies (ACT) group within CIT is hiring
a student assistant to assist ACT staff with support of Linux and central
web services. Some of the tasks associated with postion are:

- assisting in the creation, documentation and ongoing maintenance of new
  versions of the UBLinux distribution

- assisting in testing, RPM packaging, and documentation of Linux software

- support of a new open source web service

- programming scripts and creating web pages to facilitate the tasks
  mentioned above

Applicants should have at least some experience installing Linux on a PC,
working on the unix command line, and coding web pages directly in HTML.
Perl, PHP, Python or unix shell scripting experience is helpful.

Applicants must be students at UB for the entire upcoming 2004-2005
academic year (Fall and Spring semesters). Applicants must be
available to work over the summer beginning May 20, 2004 and through
the academic year, 20 hours per week in the Computing Center on the
North Campus between the hours of 9:00am - 5:00pm Monday through
Friday. Scheduling is very flexible during these times.

be if certain qualifications are met.
