meeting topic/gentoo install

There are some shortcuts we could take, like starting from stage 2
(which you should really do anyway unless you have a good reason not
to) and skipping Gnome and KDE in favor of a lighter-weight window
manager.

The trouble would be with X. It takes a pretty long time to build, too,
and I don't think you're asking about Gentoo because you hear it makes a
kick-ass OS for an IMAP server. You're going to want Firefox or
Konqueror or what-have-you.

If someone else brings an extra drive I could show you how to do a base
install onto it. Then, when that was done I could pop in a drive which
already has that base install + X already installed and we could go from
there. Add a window manager and a few other programs to give a feel for how
portage works. It's simple, really, and once you get it you can install
Gnome, KDE, or even MythTV as easily as, say, 'sudo' or 'screen'.

If you guys are interested let me know and I can put something together
for you. I think it could work out pretty well. May 23?
