Hi, Steve
Well, I'm doing something of the same deal except that I'm using SCSI drives and not one large IDE drive. If you've read my posts and their answers I've received you'll get a glimpse at how the partitions are set-up for Linux. In my most humble opinion:)

Good day

I am looking at converting this old computer over to Linux.
Currently I have 2gig W98 o/p-2gig program files - 2gig my documents
-5gig download files - balance swap & scratch area on a 20 gig hard drive

FYI, a swap area on a hard disk drive will only work (optimally) with any operating system if its on a separate hard disk drive apart from the operating system. My two cents worth:)

Nothing will move over to Linux so it will clean install
What changes would you recommend on this box regarding partition sizes

Thanks
