fedora and firewire support

Cyber Source,
Which version of Fedora are you using? What timestamp did the .iso file have? At
what point did Fedora start supporting firewire? Did you customize it? Did you
do an apt-get update from fedora.us and it suddenly started working?

RHL9 is okay, and does what I want... but Fedora intrigued me because it was so
different, lots of eye-candy. The only thing really keeping me from using it is
the firewire issue, and all the updates. When I do get access to hi-speed
internet, I like to just d-l the entire i386 updates tree. With apt-get, the
update files are kept by default.

Does everyone on this list use apt-get? It makes life very simple. I understand
that one can use the Red Hat up2date utility for free with livna.org/fedora.us,
as well. There's also an updater called Yum... more details at
http://www.fedora.us/wiki/FedoraHOWTO

I like RedHat because I'm used to it, but newbies might be taken aback by no
default NTFS support (easy enough to just download and install an rpm from
http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net, though the site is no longer maintained),
whereas Knoppix has NTFS support. Also, Debian (unstable-testing at least) has
lots of interesting packages to install that you won't get with RedHat-oriented
repositories. I should research Debian, Slack and more over at distrowatch.com

I've got various Linux distro .iso collections, if anyone is interested. RHL9,
Fedora core[1,2], Dammsmalllinux, etc., if anyone wants to have an Linux distro
sharing party. I can see about finding a place to do this at, if necessary. I'm
new to the area, so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Also, I'm looking for work. Does anyone know of any companies that are hiring
computer geeks? I should start working on getting some certifications. I'm a
linguist.

thanks,
Daniel
