CDROM Failure

I have a Compaq DeskPro EN SFF PII 450mghz and when installing my new 
harddrive a pin on the motherboard dedicated for a cdrom cable (smaller 
then the reguarl ide). The port and the cdrom drive were made for this pc.
Anyone have anyideas. I have tried a new cdrom drive on ide but since the 
case is so small there is no room for it.

Any Ideds?
