Cheap soundcard - Linux Friendly

I have a gateway performance 1400 that has a Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128D 
soundcard. I tried to install it failed to get it working in the 
following distros (Debain,RH9). So I have finally given up and now I am 
looking for a cheap soundcard (just for playing mp3's) for my computer. 
Of course it has to be linux friendly so if anyone has recently 
purchased and low cost linux loving soundcard then please let me know.
