Ronald, considered putting these commands into your init.rc files so that
they load on startup?

Subject: FW: Debian Question
Thanks all for telling me about apt-get and modconf....
I've updated all of my debian packages and added the 3C59x module with the
option of 7 (default) and it detects my car.
Here is my problem...
In order to get my NIC active I have to run the following commands -
ifconfig eth0 up (brings the interface up) then pump -i eth0. This
activates the NIC and then configures it off of my DHCP server. If I reboot
I have to do the two commands all over again.
I am used to RedHat and am unsure what utility or what to configure to tell
Debian on boot to initialize the card.
Thanks,
RONALD K. WECHTER
