Oracle 8i install on Redhat 9.0?

i have not installed oracle on any of the new versions of redhat, i've 
always installed oracle on redhat 6.2 and 7.1. if you plan on compiling 
PHP with oracle support you will need to installed this on redhat 6.2 or 
you will never get it to work. this is related to the libc that oracle 
was built against and will not work with redhat's compat-lib* packages.
