newbie redhat update problem

Gnome seems to be back to stay but programs are coming up extremely
slow.  A minute or more from the time they are clicked on.  Then there
is that error type message that says the file manager is not
compatible.  I have no idea why it wouldn't be.  But as long as things
are operable for the most part I'll live with that for now and hope to
eventually figure out what's going on.  :-)  

Thanks again.  I'm looking forward to the next meeting which I hope to
attend.
